The Importance of an Intact Home (Part 4)

Welcome!

I’m Bub Kuns, and today we’re talking about the importance of a biblical family.

An article by Joshua Coleman published in The Atlantic revealed that 11% of American parents are estranged from their grown children. Notably, in 70% of those cases, the parents’ divorce is a key reason.

You see, there’s a connection between children’s long-term relationships with their parents and the parents’ commitment to each other. God’s design is for husbands and wives to keep their marriage covenant and stay together. Admittedly, families face tough challenges, including financial pressures, job pressure, and cultural temptations. The answer to these trying times, though, isn’t to abandon the promises we’ve made to our spouses but to remember how much marital faithfulness – living out our commitments – impacts our children and communities.

As Abraham Lincoln said, “Commitment is what transforms a promise into reality.”

And shouldn’t we be good stewards of creation as well? We’ll discuss that another time.
