I’m Bub Kuns, and today we’re talking about adultery again.
Tragically, adultery affects nearly half of all marriages. Although our culture tries to trivialize this sin by calling it “cheating” or “having an affair,” unfaithfulness in marriage results in broken people — and broken relationships.
According to the National Institutes of Health, 88% of those getting a divorce stated that adultery was the #1 reason.
As Dennis Hollinger, President of Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary, said, “The heart of the moral wrong of adultery is that a covenant, a sacred commitment, has been broken. The one-flesh union which set this relationship apart from all others has been torn asunder by one of the spouses and by a third party that has now entered into the oneness of the relationship.”
Faithfulness to our spouses preserves the wonderful bond of trust God has designed for marriage and prevents broken hearts — and broken homes.
