I’m Bub Kuns, and today we’re asking the question: “What happens to cultures that reject God’s moral standards?”
In his classic book Sex and Culture, anthropologist J. D. Unwin researched 86 historic civilizations and tribes. He found that these people groups typically began with strong moral standards, but as they became prosperous, they began valuing their own pleasure — specifically sexual gratification — over virtue, leading to societal decay. In fact, Unwin found that societies that rejected the nuclear family — God’s design of one man and one woman in marriage — collapsed within one hundred years WITHOUT EXCEPTION!
Apologist Daniel Janosik commented that Unwin, “ found that when sexual opportunities opened the door to pre–marital, post–marital, and homosexual relationships, the social energy always dissipated as the individual focused more on self–gratification rather than societal good.”
History reminds us God’s way is best.
