A Christian’s Place in Politics (Part 3)

Welcome!

I’m Bub Kuns, and today we’re talking about Christians in politics.

Should Christians be involved in politics?

Well, in 1 Corinthians 7:21, the apostle Paul gave this admonition to Christians: “[I]f you can be made free … use it.” Paul was telling the believers they should use whatever freedom they received as an opportunity to share Christ and be light in this world. In fact, Acts 24-26 tells us that when Paul was imprisoned for the Gospel he took opportunities to speak biblical truth to three political leaders — Governors Festus and Felix, and King Agrippa.

As Americans, we live in a free country where we can elect our leaders and speak out on current issues. We should use that freedom to vote for leaders who align with the Christian worldview, overcome evil with good (according to Romans 12), and to share biblical truth on cultural topics — both with elected officials and our neighbors — as we have opportunity.

Now, how should a Christian  vote? We’ll that’s a good one for next time.
