Welcome!
I’m Bub Kuns, and today we’re talking about Christians in politics.
Many believers wonder what role — if any — they should play in American politics. While some contend that Christians should be active in promoting legislation reflecting a biblical worldview, others say that political activism distracts believers from evangelizing the lost.
What all Christians should agree on is being salt and light in our culture. Loving God and one’s neighbor means that believers should not only proclaim biblical truth but also make a tangible difference in their communities when it comes to cultural issues.
For instance, believers can volunteer at crisis pregnancy centers, help counsel husbands and wives with struggling marriages, and donate to food banks — all while sharing biblical truth on the issues of the right to life, biblical marriage, and helping the poor.
As famed statesman Daniel Webster said, “Whatever makes men good Christians makes them good citizens.”
We’ll talk more about Christians in politics next time.
