Welcome!
I’m Bub Kuns, and today we’re talking about a Christian response to socialism.
Socialists claim that capitalism only promotes the interests of the rich. But that’s not true.
Capitalism helps everyone in society because business owners realize their success depends on the satisfaction of their customers.
As author Dinesh D’Souza said, “While profit remains the final goal, entrepreneurs spend the better part of each day figuring out how better to serve the needs of their actual and potential customers. They are operationally, if not intentionally, altruistic.”
Ecclesiastes 11:1 says, “Cast your bread upon the waters, for you will find it after many days” (ESV). For businessmen, this means that making customers happy results in higher profits.
In contrast, socialist governments never seem to care what citizens — THEIR “CUSTOMERS” — think. Instead, they demand, take, and penalize those they’re supposed to help.
And how else should Christians respond to socialism? We’ll discuss that another time.
