Welcome!
I’m Bub Kuns, and today we’re giving a Christian response to socialism.
Despite socialism’s popularity with young people today, it’s free enterprise that best reflects both a biblical worldview and human nature when it comes to economics.
One economic principle the Bible clearly teaches is that hard work should be rewarded. Proverbs 12:14 says, “From the fruit of his mouth a man is satisfied with good, and the work of a man’s hand comes back to him” (ESV).
You see, God designed humans to work, want to dream, achieve, and then reap the benefits of their labor. In contrast, socialism dampens the human spirit, discouraging — and sometimes prohibiting — people from reaching their potential.
As economist Milton Freidman said, “[T]here is no alternative way so far discovered of improving the lot of the ordinary people that can hold a candle to the productive activities that are unleashed by the free-enterprise system.”
And how else should Christians respond to socialism? We’ll discuss them another time.
