I’m Bub Kuns and today we’re talking about socialism.
It’s hard to understand why some believers try to reconcile socialism and Christianity when modern socialism’s founder, Karl Marx, was so hostile to religious faith in general—and to our Lord in particular.
If you have any doubts about that, here’s Marx’s own words about his life goal: “My object in life is to dethrone God and destroy capitalism.”
Wow! That’s pretty brazen.
And while we know that Marx’s socialism really DOES wreck capitalism (and countries) wherever it’s imposed, we can have confidence that his foolish words about dethroning God will never come to pass.
Psalms 2 tells us that although ”rulers take counsel together against the Lord,” “[God] that sits in the heavens shall laugh [at them].”
In fact, Philippians 2 reminds us “every knee shall bow and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord”—and that will include Karl Marx himself.
Of course, there are other problems with socialism and we’ll discuss them another time.
