I’m Bub Kuns, and today we’re talking about wokeness.
That term once meant being awake or alert to social or political injustices. If that were still the case, believers could be completely on board. Unfortunately, that’s NOT what it means at all today.
Wokeness really stems from a Marxist worldview, holding the world is divided into two classes — the oppressors and the oppressed. Guised as social justice these days, woke ideology identifies the “oppressors” in society as anyone with European ancestry or anyone holding a traditional, biblical view of the world. And woe to anyone who is not “woke” enough to condemn these people!
The problem is that in claiming that societal problems stem from skin color and Western culture, woke advocates are rejecting what the Bible teaches — that society’s problems come from a SIN NATURE we ALL share as fallen human beings … problems that can only find their solution in Jesus Christ.
