Welcome!
I’m Bub Kuns, and today I’m continuing to talk about “cancel culture.”
There are those who continue to marginalize voices in our society that represent traditional values — especially those from a Christian worldview.
So, how is the believer to respond?
Well, we can learn from how Christians of the first century faced their own “cancel culture.” Acts 5 states that when the disciples shared the Gospel, they were arrested and ordered by the Pharisees not to preach in Jesus’ name. The Apostle Peter’s response was clear and firm: “We must obey God rather than man.”
Scripture teaches that believers should be good citizens, pray for government leaders, and as long as laws don’t violate God’s principles, obey them. The Bible also teaches that we should not compromise the Gospel by hiding our light “under a bushel” in the face of the world’s hostility.
Christians must have unrelenting courage to speak the truth in love at all times.
There are more issues with cancel culture that we’ll discuss another time.
