CANCEL CULTURE: Understanding Its Danger (Part 2)

Welcome!

This is Bub Kuns and today we’re talking about “cancel culture” again.

“Cancel culture” poses a danger to free speech in general, but its secular perspective seems to specifically target those with a biblical worldview.

As examples, “cancel culture” came after a Christian politician Päivi Räsänen in Finland, who was recently prosecuted in court, as well as Pastor Josh Williamson of Britain, who was threatened with deportation by a local government official. Their crimes: posting social media messages that reflected a biblical viewpoint on marriage and sexuality.

You see, cancel culture seeks to silence voices that don’t align with its progressive secular mindset through intimidation and character assassination.

But as former Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley said, “Our society is built on the values of free speech and mutual respect, but cancel culture rejects both. In place of free speech, it demands conformity. Instead of mutual respect, it tears people down.”

Of course, there are other problems with cancel culture and we’ll discuss them another time.
