LIFE ISSUES: Methamphetamine

Welcome to Apologetics with Carl Kerby!

Today, we’re talking about Methamphetamine.

Methamphetamine is an extremely addictive stimulant that – like many other drugs – can be smoked, snorted, injected, or taken orally. According to the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, use of meth leads to short-term problems like rapid heartbeat, nausea, sleep problems, irritability, and violent behavior. Meth also leads to long-term problems like heart and brain issues, dental issues, osteoporosis, stroke – and even death. In fact, according to the National Institute on Drug Abuse, methamphetamine overdose deaths more than QUADRUPLED from 2011 to 2018! What’s even scarier is that two million Americans currently use meth, with 500 new users each day.

1 Peter 3 warns believers to be “sober-minded,” and believers should never put substances into their bodies that intentionally cloud or distort their thinking – including a drug like methamphetamine. Although Satan wants to steal, kill, and destroy, Christ wants to give abundant life.

And what about moral issues? We’ll discuss them another time.
