Welcome to Apologetics with Carl Kerby!
Today, we’re talking about marijuana.
Is marijuana really a “gateway drug?” Proponents of marijuana legalization would like you to believe it’s not. But according to Robert L. DuPont of the National Institute on Drug Abuse, a substance like marijuana “primes the brain” for harder drugs down the road, like heroin, especially when considering the fact that marijuana addicts are “three times more likely to be addicted to heroin.” DuPoint noted, “Establishing [marijuana] as a third legal drug, along with tobacco and alcohol, will increase drug abuse, including the expanding opioid epidemic.”
I Corinthians 6:19 tells us, “Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own.”
Our bodies belong to God, and Christians should be good stewards of their bodies by avoiding the dangerous path to addiction that comes from using marijuana.
And what are other life issues? We’ll discuss them another time.
