Welcome to Apologetics with Carl Kerby!
Today, we’re talking about marijuana.
Does marijuana legalization REALLY lead to more people using the drug? Well, the answer is a resounding YES – and that includes TEEN users.
According to the National Center for Biotechnology Information, Colorado – the first state to legalize recreational marijuana – now leads in first-time marijuana use by 12-17 YEAR-OLDS and has seen a 65% increase in marijuana use among youth.
An even greater danger is that today’s marijuana is much, much stronger than during the 1960s “hippie era.” In fact, the THC level – the addictive property in marijuana – is 212% STRONGER! More teens using a stronger drug is a recipe for disaster.
Paul tells us in I Corinthians 6:12, “All things are lawful for me, but not all things are helpful … I will not be dominated by anything” (ESV).
Legalization doesn’t make marijuana good or right, and wise people will stay away from it.
And what are other problems with marijuana? We’ll discuss them another time.
