LIFE ISSUES: Alcoholism (Part 1)

Welcome to Apologetics with Carl Kerby!

Many people today view alcohol as harmless fun, but statistics show that alcohol is causing huge problems in our culture.

According to the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism, 95,000 Americans die every year from the effects of alcoholism. That makes alcohol #3 in preventable causes of death across the country. A 2019 report found that over 14 million Americans have an alcohol disorder, and nearly 1 in 5 emergency room visits is alcohol-related as well.

Add to that a study published in The Archives of General Psychiatry that found a whopping 78% of TEENS surveyed have tried alcohol, and we have the makings of a societal disaster ahead.

Scripture tells us, “Wine is a mocker, strong drink a brawler, and whoever is led astray by it is not wise” (ESV).

Avoiding alcohol helps us to avoid the dangerous consequences it brings.

And what are other life issues? We’ll discuss them another time.
