LIFE ISSUES: “Passive” Euthanasia (Part 2)

Welcome to Apologetics with Carl Kerby!

“Passive” euthanasia, where someone is allowed to die by withholding needed food or treatment, is a cruel means of taking someone’s life — as in the case of Terri Schiavo.

Schiavo was left brain-damaged in 1990 after having heart failure and was kept alive through a feeding tube. In 2005, her husband tried to have her feeding tube removed so she would starve and die. Despite heroic efforts by her parents and government officials to prevent this, courts eventually ruled in favor of the husband, and Schiavo was starved to death.

Most people wouldn’t treat the cruelest animal that way, yet HUMAN LIFE is becoming increasingly devalued and mistreated. But God values people, not because of their abilities but because they are His creation and made in His image. As such, the disabled are precious and worthy of protection just like all other humans.

And what are other life issues? We’ll discuss them another time.
