Stephen Hawking (Part 2)

Welcome to Apologetics with Carl Kerby!

Some atheists don’t seem to really care whether or not God exists — they just want Him out of the picture.

In a 2010 interview on ABC News, the late Stephen Hawking, famed British physicist, made the following statement: “One can’t prove that God doesn’t exist, but science makes God unnecessary.”

That statement is a classic example of what Darwinian evolution does for many people who reject God — it gives them an excuse NOT to believe. And since Darwin couched his evolutionary worldview in scientific terminology, people feel good about not believing.

But the truth is that scientific evidence supports the biblical account of creation.

As chemist James Tour noted, “Only a rookie who knows nothing about science would say science takes away from faith. If you really study science, it will bring you closer to God.”

And what are other problems with Hawking’s teachings? We’ll discuss them another time.
