LIFE ISSUES: Physician-Assisted Suicide (Part 3)

Welcome to Apologetics with Carl Kerby!

Today, we’re talking about physician-assisted suicide.

Why do people choose to die by physician-assisted suicide? Surprisingly, the answer’s NOT physical pain.

The Washington Post cited a medical study indicating patients wanted physician-assisted suicide not for terminal illness but mainly for “PSYCHOLOGICAL SUFFERING.” The Detroit Free Press reported that 60% of those committing suicide with the “help” of the infamous Jack Kevorkian DID NOT EVEN HAVE A TERMINAL ILLNESS!

Instead, many seek physician-assisted suicide for the same reasons that people attempt suicide on their own: they face discouragement, hardships, or limitations in life. But the answer to these problems is not death but LIFE through Jesus Christ.

You see, God uses suffering to draw the lost to Himself, to prepare believers for eternity, and to give an opportunity for the church to minister the love of Christ to those who are suffering.

And what are other problems with physician-assisted suicide? We’ll discuss them another time.
