Welcome to Apologetics with Carl Kerby!
Let’s talk about the idea that we are actually living in a virtual simulation, like the movie “The Matrix.”
This growing trend has its roots in a philosophical argument known as “Solipsism.” The argument says that anything other than one’s own mind is uncertain to exist, and that anything outside of the mind is non-existent or made up.
This idea that all reality is a simulation cannot be proven, at least not in philosophical or scientific terms. Solipsism is actually a self-defeating argument. The more sure we are that our experiences are false, the less we can trust those experiences – including the experiences that lead us to believe in Solipsism!
The Bible tells us that God created, not simulated, the heavens and the earth. He created us as more than just physical beings with the ability to have a relationship with Him beyond our physical experience.
Next time we’ll tackle another strange concept that is taking the world by storm.
