Today, we’re talking about the Book of Mormon and the historical record.
The Book of Mormon claims Jews came to North America from Israel hundreds of years before the birth of Christ. Supposedly, the ancient Jewish immigrants to America began feuding … the righteous Nephites were being killed off by the less-than-righteous Lamanites (purportedly ancestors of today’s American Indians). But is there historical evidence for this claim?
Actually … NO!
DNA analysis shows evidence TO THE EXACT CONTRARY of Mormonism’s claims! American Indians are, in fact, really descendants of Asian settlers who probably crossed into North America from Asia on a now submerged land bridge – THEY AREN’T DESCENDENTS OF THE JEWS!
As DNA expert Simon Southerton said in responding to Mormonism’s claims, “Research on mitochondrial DNA … showed that essentially all Native Americans today are descended from Asian ancestors. No Semitic DNA was detected.”
