Welcome to Apologetics with Carl Kerby!
Today, we’re talking about Mormonism and archeology.
Archeological evidence has repeatedly affirmed the biblical record of people, places, and events from Old and New Testament times. Can the same be said of the Book of Mormon?
Well … the Book of Mormon makes many claims about events that supposedly happened in ancient North America. However, there’s NO EVIDENCE to support these claims. According to research by Josh McDowell and Don Stewart, NOT ONE ancient city or Mormon name inscription recorded as history in the Book of Mormon has ever been located. And NO ancient copies of Mormon scriptures have been found – including the golden tablets Joseph Smith purportedly received from the angel Maroni.
In fact, in 1998, National Geographic reported, “Archaeologists and other scholars have long probed the hemispheres past, and the Society does not know of anything found so far that has substantiated the Book of Mormon.”
Wow!
And what other problems does Mormonism have? We’ll discuss them another time.
