Welcome to Apologetics with Carl Kerby!
Mormonism has long been considered a cult. One of the reasons for this is Mormonism’s view of the Bible.
You see, Mormonism denies that the Bible is the only inspired, all-sufficient Word of God. Instead, Mormons believe the Bible has been corrupted and is no longer trustworthy. In fact, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints has produced three additional books they claim to be divine: The Book of Mormon, Doctrine and Covenants, and The Pearl of Great Price … all of which contradict the Bible. What’s more, Mormons believe that their own modern prophets’ teachings are inspired and are actually MORE IMPORTANT THAN THEIR DIVINE BOOKS!
But textual evidence reveals that our modern Bibles are nearly perfect copies of the earliest New Testament manuscripts. There has been no corruption of God’s Word – but the Bible does warn us to beware of FALSE TEACHERS!
And what else does Mormonism teach? We’ll discuss that another time.
