Jeremiah 17:9 tells us that the heart is deceitful above all things, and is desperately sick. We are also told not to lean on our own understanding but to trust the Lord with all our heart.
Knowing that our hearts can lead us astray, when we attempt to answer complicated issues like abortion, we cannot lean on our own emotions to determine what is right or wrong.
Instead, we should always turn to God’s Word to understand complex issues.
Isaiah reveals that the LORD calls us from our mother’s womb. Jeremiah goes even further by saying that God knew us and consecrated us BEFORE we were even in our mother’s womb! There can be no doubt that God considers a fetus alive and well.
God clearly commands us not to murder. Abortion is murdering what God has called alive, and that is what makes abortion wrong.
