WORLDVIEW: Asking God the Tough Questions (Part 2)

Welcome to Apologetics with Carl Kerby!

I get this question a lot.  If evil exists and God created everything, does that mean that God created evil?

In order to answer this, we need to understand why God created us with freewill.

If God were to force us to love Him, that wouldn’t be love at all.  That would mean we are just pre-programmed robots because love must be a reciprocal choice by us in order for true love to exist.

When God created mankind with the freewill to choose to love Him in return, by default He created the potential for people to use their freewill to do the opposite of God’s desire. We call that evil.

So, God didn’t create evil, but He did create us with the potential to do evil.  And that’s on us to take ownership instead of blaming Him!

Next time, we’re going to take another look at the supposed problem of evil.
