Welcome to Apologetics with Carl Kerby!
Today, we’re talking about Buddhism’s view of the AFTERLIFE.
Buddhism rejects the idea of God – making it atheistic in practice.
So, what do Buddhists believe about the AFTERLIFE?
Well, the Buddhist believes he is reincarnated after death based on the Law of Karma, his new life being determined by how he lived the old one. With each new self-denying and meditating existence, the Buddhist supposedly gets closer and closer to the ideal enlightened state of “Nirvana,” which literally means … drumroll, please … “NOTHINGNESS.” That’s right – the end goal of traditional Buddhism is to stop being reincarnated by NOT EXISTING ANYMORE!
HOW DEPRESSING!
In stark contrast, the Bible teaches that those who accept Christ have the promise of eternal life in heaven, a place WITHOUT suffering, sickness, or death. Instead of ending in “nothingness,” the Christian looks forward to living in Paradise with God for all eternity.
And where does Buddhism stand on other Christian beliefs? We’ll discuss that another time.
