Welcome to Apologetics with Carl Kerby!
Today, we’re talking about how Unitarianism views Jesus Christ. Although many Americans may never have heard of Unitarianism, this religion that declares the only “truth” is that “there is no truth” has permeated much of modern society.
As author Jonathan Tjarks, said:
Only 0.3 percent of Americans identify as members of the denomination, but its belief system has come to define our culture.
So, what do Unitarians believe about Jesus? Well, Unitarians reject Christ’s divinity, holding that He was an influential teacher with a good moral example but not God. Unitarians also reject Jesus as the only way of salvation. After all, since Unitarians deny man’s sinful nature, who needs to be saved?
But Romans 6:23 reminds us we’re all sinners in need of a Savior: “For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord.”
What do Christian Scientists believe about Jesus? We’ll discuss that another time.
