Welcome to Apologetics with Carl Kerby!
Today, we’re talking about how the Jehovah’s Witnesses view Jesus Christ. Jehovah’s Witnesses are well-known for their rejection of blood transfusions and refusal to say the Pledge of Allegiance. But what do they believe about Jesus?
Well, Jehovah’s Witnesses believe Jesus was a created being, rejecting His eternal nature and deity. Strangely, they believe Jesus and Michael the Archangel are one in the same. Even more bizarre is their insistence that Jesus and Lucifer (AKA the devil) were once brothers, with Jesus following Jehovah God and Lucifer not. And although they hold that Jesus was a “perfect” human, they refuse to believe His death atoned for mankind’s sin. In fact, Jehovah’s Witnesses claim Jesus didn’t even rise physically from the dead, saying He only rose “spiritually,” even though 2 Corinthians 5:14-15 clearly rebuts that idea, saying, “And…he [Jesus] died for all … and rose again.”
What do Unitarians believe about Jesus? We’ll discuss that another time.
