Welcome to Apologetics with Carl Kerby!
Today, we’re talking about how Buddhism views Jesus Christ. Christians believe that Jesus is Who He said He was – God in the flesh and the Savior of the world. But what does Buddhism say about Jesus?
Buddhism, founded in the 6th century B.C. by Gautama Buddha, is really a religious-type philosophy that is actually atheistic. As such, Buddhists don’t recognize anyone – including Jesus Christ – as God. Instead, Buddhists relegate Jesus to the status of just a wise, “enlightened” teacher, whose moral sayings should be revered, but who was not divine.
But this flies in the face of Scripture, which clearly claims that Jesus Christ is the unique, divine Son of God. In fact, Luke 22:70 records Jesus’ own testimony when the Jewish religious leaders asked Him, “Are You the Son of God, then?” He replied, “It is just as you say” (AMP).
What do the cults say about Jesus? We’ll discuss that another time.
