BIBLICAL WORLDVIEW: Argument from Archeology (Part 4)

Today, we’re talking about evidence from archeology. According to the Bible, David was Israel’s greatest king and the first of a long dynasty of monarchs, the line of which eventually led to Jesus Christ. But many skeptics argue that because of a lack of extra-biblical evidence, David was more myth than man.

So, what does archeology tell us? Well, in 1993 archaeologists were digging in northern Israel when they found a stone tablet named “The Tel Dan Stele.” The tablet included a reference to the House of David. For the first time, an extra-biblical source gave evidence that David was a verified historical figure whose family line really ruled Israel. In addition, researchers in 1994 found that the famous “Moabite Stone” – the ancient record of the king of Moab’s rebellion from Israel described in 2 Kings 3 – includes the same term: House of David.

What do you know … the biblical record was proven right … again!

Does the historical record tell us about biblical reliability? We’ll discuss that at another time. Until then, for more information, go to www.hopetools.net.  Stay bold!
