Today, we’re talking about evidence from archeology. One Bible story labeled as a myth by skeptics is the one about Sodom and Gomorrah. According to Scripture, these “sin cities” were destroyed by fire from God for their wickedness during Abraham’s time and are referred to throughout Scripture as historical places.
What does archeology reveal? Well, according to Bible scholar Dr. Craig Evans, archeological digs near the Dead Sea have unearthed what appears to be ruins of the actual cities of Sodom and Gomorrah! The area surrounding these neighboring cities shows mass destruction by fire during the Bronze Age … just when Scripture records that this judgement occurred! Also, in a fascinating discovery, the charred ruins of these cities indicate that the fire began from the top of the buildings down – aligning perfectly with the Bible’s account of fire falling from Heaven.
What else does archeology tell us about the Bible’s reliability? We’ll discuss that another time. Until then, for more information, go to www.hopetools.net. Stay bold!
