Today, we’re talking about worldviews. What comes to mind when you hear “New Age Movement?” Flower children meditating with crystals next to a Volkswagen van? Well, that caricature may be long gone, but New Age ideas continue to influence contemporary culture.
Popularized in the 1960s and stemming from Eastern religious philosophies, the New Age Movement promotes the pantheistic view that God is in everything and in everyone. We can tap into this spiritual “energy” to experience a higher consciousness on the pathway to “becoming god” ourselves. The coming “Age of Aquarius” supposedly will usher in a new spiritual utopia.
But, as the late Billy Graham said:
… the New Age movement, with all of its aberrations … is actually not new but only the latest attempt by man to place something other than Christ inside himself in a futile attempt to satisfy spiritual longings.
EXACTLY!
There’s another reason New Age philosophy is dangerous. But we’ll discuss that another time. Until then, for more information, go to www.hopetools.net. Stay bold!
