WORLDVIEW: Postmodernism (Part 3)

Today, we’re talking about worldviews. Postmodernism is the dominant worldview in our secular culture, and there’s great danger in that. After all, if there’s no basis for right and wrong, as postmodernism claims, then whose ideas will dominate?

Well, as apologist Charles Colson said:

In our postmodernist age … if there is no truth, then we cannot persuade one another by rational arguments. All that’s left is sheer power.

That’s right – if the culture is hostile to truth, there’s nothing left but one group forcing its views on another, and that’s exactly what we’ve seen with recent violent rioting in American cities. It is the result of “people doing what is right in their own eyes,” as in the book of Judges.

In contrast, the Christian worldview proclaims truth through divine revelation (i.e. the Bible), as well as through evidence and reason. But if a postmodern society rejects these, chaos ensues.

Postmodernism inevitably results in pluralism, but we’ll discuss that another time. For more information, go to www.hopetools.net.  Stay bold!
