Today, we’re talking about worldviews. Agnosticism – the worldview that teaches that there may be a God but He’s unknowable – is, in reality, practical atheism, since agnostics live life as if there is no God.
Another problem with agnosticism is that it’s an excuse to be intellectually lazy. After all, if agnostics really believed God might exist, then why wouldn’t they try like crazy to find Him? Since God has everything to do with what’s most important (i.e. eternity), why wouldn’t they look for Him at every opportunity?
As Christian theologian Al Mohler said:
[Agnosticism] just doesn’t work as a middle position or alternative to theism and atheism. [T]he question of God’s existence or non-existence is simply too important and fundamental to human life.
The good news is that God has revealed Himself as a personal God, and we can know Him! As Jeremiah 23:23 says, “Am I a God at hand, says the Lord, and not a God afar off?”
Another false worldview is postmodernism, but we’ll discuss that another time. For more information, go to www.hopetools.net. Stay bold!
