Today, we’re talking about the argument of design, specifically, evidence from the atom. The atom is the basic unit of all life and makes up everything from a pen to a planet. The atom itself is made of sub-atomic particles, two of which are protons and neutrons. The neutrons are slightly larger than the protons, and they sometimes decay and turn into protons.
If protons were larger and turned into neutrons instead, that would be a BIG PROBLEM.
Why?
Well … hydrogen (the simplest element) has only ONE PROTON and NO NEUTRONS. If the one proton decayed into a neutron, it wouldn’t be hydrogen anymore. If this kept happening, hydrogen on earth would cease to exist, making life on earth unsustainable. Interestingly, scientists who believe life resulted from random chance have NO EXPLANATION as to why neutrons are larger than protons in atoms.
The fact is, the atom was DESIGNED to sustain life!
