We’re talking today about who can use apologetics. Some people think only trained professionals can be apologists. While God certainly calls some people to full-time apologetic ministry, the fact is that ALL believers can use apologetics to proclaim God’s truth.
In I Peter 3:15, the apostle Peter says, “Be ready always to give an answer to every man that asks you a reason of the hope that is in you.” Now, Peter wasn’t writing this to a professional class of ministers but to ordinary Christians. So, EVERY BELIEVER should be ready to give a reason for his/her faith in Christ.
This means that at a minimum we should study the apologetic books and websites of godly Christians. We should become familiar with important issues like the origins of life, the validity of the Bible, and the Resurrection of Jesus Christ. It also means that we should talk to friends and neighbors about WHY we believe what we believe.
Christian apologist Chuck Colson once said:
If our culture is to be transformed, it will happen from the bottom up – from ordinary believers practicing apologetics over the backyard fence or around the barbecue grill.
You might be wondering, “But HOW do I use apologetics?” We’ll address that another time. Until then, find more apologetic resources at debunked.org. Stay bold!
