We’re talking today about why apologetics is important. Ever heard somebody say, “All roads lead to God?” Saying such a thing is like saying, “All telephone numbers lead to my mom.” Try that sometime and see how it works! The fact is, there are many deceivers in our world peddling false ideas like this one.
In Matthew 10:16, Jesus warns us of false teachers: “Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves.” Now, a lot of people facing wolves might be tempted to cut and run, but Jesus tells us to engage these people instead. He tells us to “be wise as serpents, and harmless as doves.”
False ideas need to be answered with GRACIOUS TRUTH. Apologetics – the communication of WHY we believe what we believe – is important to countering these false ideas. And the fact is, we have really good reasons for why we believe the Gospel!
Jude’s epistle tells us to “earnestly contend for the faith,” which means being willing to stand up for God’s truth and helping people see through falsehoods so they can come to Christ.
You might say, “Okay, I get that apologetics is important. But can ANYBODY be an apologist?” We’ll address that another time. Until then, find more apologetic resources at debunked.org. Stay bold!
