Was Adam a real man? Some Christians accept evolution’s claim that Adam was not a real person, just a representation of the human race after evolving. Yet, the biblical record creates a big problem for such an idea.
If the story of Adam is just an allegory – like a parable – then we shouldn’t see him mentioned in ANY historical genealogy in the Bible. Yet, in Luke 2, there’s a detailed account of the Messiah’s family line that starts with Jesus and goes all the way back to … you guessed it … ADAM! So, if we believe Jesus was a real person, then logically we have to believe His earthly father, Joseph, was a real person, too. And that means we have to accept the others in the family line – David, Abraham, Noah, and ADAM – were real people as well!
As Pastor John MacArthur said:
Any evolutionary lies that seek to eliminate Adam as a historical person are guilty of a destructive assault on the gospel and on Scripture.

That leads to the next question: Can we trust the Bible as reliable history when it comes to Adam’s creation? We’ll address that question another time. Until then, find more apologetic resources at debunked.org. Stay bold!
