We’re still dealing with the claim that everybody KNOWS fossils prove evolution. “How can you Christians argue against it?”
Uhhh .. does everybody KNOW that the fossil record proves evolution? Remember, if descent with modification actually occurred, then we should find things like a reptilian scale gradually becoming a feather. Do we see this?
Let’s let Dr. Mark Pagel, a non-Christian, address that. In Nature Magazine he wrote:
“… instead of finding the slow, smooth and progressive changes Lyell and Darwin had expected, they saw in the fossil record rapid bursts of change, new species appearing seemingly out of nowhere and then remaining unchanged for millions of years …”

That’s not good. The fossil record shows the opposite of what is needed to support evolution. It gets even worse, Pagel finishes his article with this observation:
“(The fossil record shows) patterns hauntingly reminiscent of creation.”
There you have it … a non-Christian says the fossil record is consistent with creation. But, what about Lucy (Australopithecus)? Great question! Until next time, stay bold!
