Now, I know that some of you who are reading this are asking yourself, “Self … what IS ‘apologetics’?” That’s a fair question and one that might not be what you think. Many see the word “apologetics” and assume that since it looks like the word “apologize,” it probably means the same thing. The truth is that it means exactly the opposite! The word apologetics comes from 1 Peter 3:15 where God tells His disciples to be prepared to give an “answer” for the reason for the hope that is in them. That word, “answer” is where “apologetics” comes from and it literally means “to give a logical, rational answer as to why you believe what you say you believe.”
Today, we live in a world where the vast majority of the population is taught that Christianity is for the “weak minded,” and that Christians don’t have answers to even basic questions about their faith. Unfortunately, many times that’s true, and it breaks my heart.
The goal with the following articles is to show how you can give answers, with meekness and fear. Until next time, stay bold!
