A number of years ago we published an article titled, “Don’t Call Us Young-Earth Creationists.” Now why would we say that?
Well, because if we make our primary title “young-earth creationists,” we seem to agree that the debate is merely over the scientific evidence of the age of the earth. Now, of course, examining the evidence is valuable. But the issue is not the evidence itself.
The main issue is our starting point for interpreting the evidence—either fallible human opinions or infallible Scripture. So the issue isn’t really the age of the earth—it’s biblical authority! Will we start with God’s Word or man’s word?
