Those who believe in an old earth say there were many ice ages. But they don’t have a mechanism that could cause one ice age, let alone dozens.
When we start with the Bible’s history, though, a single ice age makes sense. The global flood of Noah’s day and its aftermath would’ve radically changed the climate. After the flood, there would’ve been warm oceans and cool summers. These conditions were perfect for tons of snow with little melting. The result was an ice age!
