Many people think it doesn’t matter what you believe about Genesis as long as you believe in Jesus. But it does matter because the gospel message begins in Genesis!
God originally created a perfect world, but our sin brought death and suffering into creation. That’s why Jesus had to come to earth and die physically, to take the penalty of death that we deserve upon himself.
Think about it—if Adam and Eve weren’t real people, or if death isn’t really the penalty for sin, then the foundation for the gospel is gone. But the history in Genesis is true, so we can know that the gospel message is also true.
