Many people claim that Scripture is full of hidden meanings. Well, this week we’ve been looking at how to read the Bible. And one important principle is the “plain meaning of Scripture.”
One of Jesus’ favorite replies to questions was, “Haven’t you read?” Jesus expected people to read and understand the Scriptures. This means Scripture isn’t full of hidden meanings that only educated or enlightened people can discover.
Now, there are parts of the Bible that are more difficult to understand than others. But this doesn’t mean we should search for hidden meanings. The Bible teaches its truth plainly so that all generations can understand it’s basic message.
