Earlier this year, two bioethicists in Canada wrote a paper arguing for assisted suicide—that it should be allowed for those whose—quote—“social conditions made life intolerable.” In other words, poverty, or a lack of housing or medical care, are reasons to have a doctor end your life!
This is really an attempt to “be like god,” just like in the garden of Eden. But we’re not God—and we have no “right” to try and be god.
Assisted suicide is murder—it’s not compassionate and merciful. It takes advantage of the poor and sick. It devalues precious human lives.
Decisions of life and death, well, they belong to God.
